Mother's garden was an excellent photographic location for exercising my macro zoom lens.

I wouldn't say that I'm on very good terms with spiders, but while this one kept still, I got close enough to photograph it.


I thought that this was a very pretty spider. After I took this picture, my nephew touched the web and the spider moved. So did I!

This may not be the same spider as in the previous picture, as it's three films later, but it is the same variety of spider. You may have ascertained that this particular spider is female: she is photographed here consuming her unlucky mate.

Everything else on this page has eight legs, but this has more because there are two of them. Let's hope that the male grasshopper was luckier than the male spider in the previous picture!
