Wentworth in New South Wales is the location where the River Darling joins with the River Murray. It is the nearest large town in New South Wales to Mildura in Victoria, which I visited on the same day, along with my brother and his family.

A wharf from paddle steamer days on the Darling.

This lizard was darting around on a huge old tree stump near the wharf. I never did manage to get a completely sharp photograph, so this one's the best I managed. I haven't spent a lot of time editing the dust specks off the background.

A quiet backwater on the Darling.

Aus_2000_15_01_Tree I picked this gum tree out from its neighbours using my super wide angle zoom lens. It was in the reserve by the joining of the rivers.

This is the scene my brother brought me to Wentworth to photograph: the place where the River Darling, on the left, flows into the River Murray, on the right.

Aus_2000_15_17_Tree I found this gum tree with its roots drowned by the river the most interesting photographic subject in the reserve, and expended a bit of film on it. This shot was taken from the top of an observation platform.

I found the drowned tree to be even more photogenic from the vantage point of the river bank at ground level and the picture on the right is the one I'm most pleased with.

The water made an interesting photograph, too.
