On my previous visit to Brighton, I went to the centre of Brighton, where I visited the Pier and admired the exterior of The Pavilion.
On this occasion, Stephen and I avoided that area and headed for the Marina, which is to the east of the busy tourist areas.

Our first "port of call" (so to speak!) was the main basin where small craft are moored against a number of pontoons. I didn't get any particularly notable pictures of the large variety of craft moored there, but I did take some pictures of The Pagoda, which is moored against the landward wall. |

On the left is The Pagoda, which is worth clicking on as the thumbnail doesn't do it justice; while on the right I have zoomed in on some of the roof detail. |

As well as the main marina basin, there are moorings up close to some of the dockside buildings. How would you like to be able to step out of your front door and straight into this boat? |

The final place I photographed was the fountain in a quadrangle surrounded by shops. |

The picture on the left is a "snapshot" taken at a relatively fast shutter speed, although not fast enough to have totally "frozen" the water. On the right is the same view with filters added to the lens so that the shutter speed could be slowed down to about ten seconds, causing the water to "flow". Some reciprocity failure crept into this shot, which doesn't show as much contrast as the "snap" on the left. I should have exposed it a little longer. The centre picture was also taken at a slow shutter speed. The verticals have been straightened up courtesy of PhotoMagic. |
