I was recently fortunate enough to participate in a Music Weekend which was based in Chetham's School of Music in Manchester. I was kept pretty busy playing my bassoon most of the time, but I did manage to run off a couple of shots which are worth looking at.
These pictures were scanned using the CanoScan FS2710 film scanner.

Above are three views of the oldest building on the Chetham's site. The Baronial Hall is located in this building. I don't think any of these are photographic winners as the composition owed more to "hiding" the litter bins than to placing the elements of my shot in the most aesthetically pleasing locations! I missed the best shot on Friday evening when I arrived and went down to the common room to be sociable with the other weekend attendees, and came out later on armed with my tripod to photograph the building at night, as it was lit by lights under the eaves all the way along it, only to discover that the lights had been turned off! I also tripped the night time security sensors! Saturday night it rained, and I was out in Chinatown with a friend anyway, so the night time lit shot, which may well have been a winner, remained untaken. |

These two images were taken near the Baronial Hall. The image on the left can be viewed from the courtyard alongside the Baronial Hall, and it was quite mossy, so I haven't tried to remove the green "cast" from it. The image on the right is the corridor alongside the courtyard. I have high hopes of this shot for the 2001-2 season of camera club! |
