The Beckenham Concert Band returned to Eastbourne on the first weekend in September, 2001 to perform on the Bandstand. Afterwards, I brought out my cameras, and shot these scenes along the Promenade and the Pier.
These pictures were scanned using the CanoScan FS2710 film scanner.

While walking along Grand Parade, Sovereign House, a block of seaside apartments, caught my eye. As I don't run to expensive perspective correction camera lenses, my computer has had to come into play to stop the building from leaning back! |
Stephen's Mum much admires the flowers in Eastbourne. They have lovely displays there, and the gardeners manage to ensure that there are plenty of flowers right through the summer and into September. The beds of house leeks particularly caught my eye. |

Last time I was at Eastbourne, I photographed the lion's head motif which appears on the lamp posts on the Pier. I wanted to have another shot at one of the lion's heads, and I liked this one. |
As evening drew near, I pointed my camera towards the strings of lights along Grand Parade. In this shot, I caught them before they were switched on. I decided that this looked better in black and white, and I also used a watercolour effect to turn it into a line drawing. |
There was a spectacular moonrise as evening fell. I captured it on film, and enhanced it slightly on the computer. |
I then turned my camera towards the Pier, where the lights had now come on. I clicked away until the remaining light in the sky faded |
