This page contains pictures for which the only source of lighting was a lightbox.
They were scanned using the CanoScan FS2710 film scanner.

The idea for this page was an article in Photography Monthly magazine. I might actually "have a go" with one of these pictures and send it in to see if it wins a backpack! |

The first (and I think the best) image I created was done by placing a tray of orange and lemon slice Christmas sweets on the lightbox. What actually happened was that the orange and yellow sweets overlapped and as they were lit from below, they all came out the same colour! |

My next idea was to place a Sellotape dispenser on its side on a piece of coloured cellophane from a chocolate that Stephen had eaten. He also wishes it to be known that the Sellotape dispenser used belongs to him! I tried it first on a piece of orange cellophane, but it didn't really do anything for it, so then I tried a purple piece, and it darkened the dispenser to a red colour and made it really stand out against the lilac background. |

I tried putting a paperweight on the lightbox, both with and without coloured cellophane beneath it, but found that it didn't make a particularly successful picture as the centre of a paperweight was too dark. Then I tried using a pair of earrings laid directly on the lightbox. They didn't result in a particularly successful picture, and I could probably do better by using the lightbox as an overhead light source. I might try it again that way, as I can use the earrings any time, unlike the orange and lemon slices, which are being eaten up! Anyway, here are the earrings resting on the lightbox. |
