I have just had a wind quintet rehearsing at my place.
It's great to finally live in a detached house and be able to play as much music as I like as late as I like without having to worry about who is on the other side of the party wall.
One thing about wind quintets is that our instruments tend to collect a certain amount of water. A flute, oboe or clarinet drips every so often, and a horn and a bassoon, not being straight tubes, require emptying from time to time.
Right now I have horrible old carpets that can take all the punishment they are given and not look any the worse for it, but I will have to remember to install some potted plants when I get new carpets so that prolific water producers such as the horn player will have somewhere acceptable to get rid of this unwanted water.
I have to admit to using someone's African Violet for this purpose only a week or so ago, as her carpets looked rather better than mine:-)
