The morning started grey and damp, and we slept in after our late return of the previous evening. In fact, we didn't get going until it was getting late in the afternoon, when the weather brightened up.
We wanted to take another look at Llangollen, and the most direct route was via the Horseshoe Pass, so we went that way again. (You can see Llangollen from the Horseshoe Pass.)
Everything seems to shut early in June in north Wales, and there were no horses in evidence at the canal wharf, but it was possible to get up onto the towpath, so we walked along it for a while. There were plenty of ducks in the canal, and someone beside the canal kept hens and we heard at least two roosters crowing.
The train station was also quiet, and I have to admit to trespassing for a better view of the river, which has some rapids by a mill which is now a pub. I wondered if these rapids were the Horseshoe Falls that we'd missed earlier in the week, but the map doesn't have the Horseshoe falls right in Llangollen, so their exact whereabouts are still a mystery to us.
We returned from Llangollen via the Horseshoe Pass again, and called in at a supermarket in Ruthin for a few food items, including our tea. I was interested in the church in the centre of Ruthin, as the steeple is floodlit at night, but the rest of the church wasn't lit, so it didn't appear to be such an interesting night photography subject after all.
