Today I was woken by the telephone. It was 9am and Stephen thought it was time I was up and about! I didn't have anywhere to be this morning, so I wasn't too bothered about what time I got up. The string players were hard at it, though, as they had a string orchestra session this morning.
I got as far as putting a bassoon reed in some water to soak so that I could do some practice, but in the end I did no more than put the Vanhal double concerto on continuous play in my CD-ROM drive while I scanned some more photographs from our holiday in June. I also made serious inroads into my laundry and I'm nearly caught up for the first time since our holiday.
This evening there was chamber music at Dilys' place. Her house is a good size and there was a large string group downstairs and a smaller one upstairs. The wind players had the same front bedroom as last year, but there were only eight of us this evening, so it wasn't too crowded. We managed to play quite a lot of very obscure music. I should have written down the name of one of the pieces we played. It was a march which turned out to be a bassoon solo!
We played until 9:30pm and then went downstairs to partake of refreshments and be sociable.
