On the day when I visited the Parish Church of St. James the Great in East Malling, the Church was open for afternoon tea and I was lucky enough to be allowed inside with both my camera and my tripod. You will notice tables set for tea in some of my pictures. There was also recording work going on: the organ was recently moved to the Corpus Christi Chapel on the South side and a number of memorial slabs became inaccessible with the organ move, so the details of these slabs were noted prior to the installation of the organ. A recording project has grown from there, and details of all the memorials within the Church are currently being recorded, after which an inventory will be taken out in the churchyard as well. It is hoped that this project will make it easier to answer questions about the graves of former parishioners. |

The first three pictures show the Nave of the Church: two of them show an angled view with the Lady Chapel on the North side visible through the arches, while the third is a straight-on view along the Nave to the Chancel. I must apologise for the quality of this last picture: I put a bit more faith in the automatic backlight compensation metering mode on my Ricoh XR-X than was advisable! |

These two pictures show the Corpus Christi Chapel on the South side. The organ, it its blue case, is positioned at the East end of this Chapel. |

Next I have two pictures of the Altar in the Corpus Christi Chapel |
The stained glass in this window is Victorian. |

Here is the door at the West end of the Corpus Christi Chapel, which leads out into the South porch. |

These two views are of the Lady Chapel on the North side. |

The modern communion rail is at the East end of the Lady Chapel and is overlooked by windows whose panels contain Mediaeval stained glass. |

The ceiling at the East end of the Lady Chapel is decorated. Unfortunately, I've picked a decoration which shows some damage. The white marks really are there: I was all ready to edit them off my first scan as dust marks, but then realised that they were in the same place on all three exposures! |

On the right is a view of the Chancel and the High Altar, while on the left is a memorial from the North wall of the Chancel. |

The memorial slab on the left has brasses let into it. It's located on the South West side of the Chancel. On the right, I have included close-ups of the figures in the brasses. |

The pulpit is located on the South East side of the Nave, and the organ in its bright blue case is visible behind the pulpit. |
There were floral decorations throughout the Church. Here I have recorded the flowers on one of the pillars between the Nave and the Lady Chapel. |
