We woke at 6am for some reason. When Stephen said what the time was, I turned over and went back to sleep until after 9am.
When we surfaced, Dewi was towing the grey Ferguson behind the Landrover Discovery, as the Fergie was reluctant to start of its own accord. He got it going and left it running and came over to rectify his omission of the previous evening and shake hands.
Then we made up a shopping list and went into Ruthin. We had a look in the town centre first, but not much was open there on a Sunday. We took a few pictures of some black and white beamed buildings, and then followed directions we had obtained from the tourist information office and found the town's two supermarkets, right next door to each other. We parked in the Co-Op car park, so that's where we shopped.
We had the esky in the car, so the perishables joined our bottled water and spare film in the cool and we went to have a better look at the Horseshoe Pass.
We made a point of stopping in every pull-off, so our progress was slow. We spent quite a bit of time watching gliders being launched from a nearby airfield. We even saw a glider do a loop-the-loop! Some telephoto lenses came out, and between us, if we don't have any good glider pictures, it will be a disappointment.
Stephen also pointed his telephoto lens at the continual stream of motorcycles using the road, and hopes to have some good pictures of them.
We went over the Horseshoe Pass and stopped at a big lay-by just on the Llangollen side, where I decided that the time was right for some slide film. With a Ricoh XR-X on a tripod, I proceeded to capture the valley below us on film. I think Stephen may have photographed some more motorcycles while I was thus occupied.
Then we followed the road down towards Llangollen, taking a turn to go towards Corwen before reaching Llangollen. I was hoping to locate the Horseshoe Falls, but they must have been nearer to Llangollen, so we decided to look for them another day.
When we reached Corwen, we took the Ruthin road, and went back to the caravan, where we stowed away our groceries, had something to eat, and contemplated what we might do the next day.
